The Institute of Political Economy is celebrating 20 years of engaged research.

On May 24th, the Institute celebrated the 20th anniversary of when it conferred the first Master of Arts degrees in Political Economy.

The conference featured panelists made up of former Visiting Professors and current teaching faculty, alumni from academia and the workplace, and a guest panel comprised of Professors Stephen McBride and Charlotte Yates from McMaster University, and Professor Marjorie Cohen from Simon Fraser University.

“All of the alumni present spoke movingly about the difference the Institute made to them both personally and academically, as a place that nurtured them as budding scholars, as social critics and as human beings,” said Laura Macdonald, director of the Institute of Political Economy. “They all spoke of the strong sense of community they experienced in their days of the Institute and their fond memories of their professors and fellow students.”
