Under Orders from the Government of Ontario and guidance from Public Health Ontario and Ottawa Public Health, Carleton University is required to implement COVID-19 screening for all employees, students, and visitors. Effective immediately, the short COVID-19 screening form must be completed each day you plan to enter a Carleton University building. If you have NOT REGISTERED for the past two terms, then you MUST register in the next term or you will be withdrawn from the program. Please note this does not include students with an approved Leave of Absence.

A reminder to all Type A RAs that, unlike past years, your RA payment has been made in a lump sum directly to your student account. Please check with Student Accounts if you have any questions.

Faculty and students both still use the Grad RA Payment System to set up the funding. Data from that system will be applied to the student account.

For domestic students, a T4A will still be issued. For international students, a T4A-NR (same form, for a non-resident) will be produced. Students will be able to request a refund of the amount applied to their account in excess of their tuition fees.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a Type B income RA (salary for hours worked) to any student who will not be resident in Canada.

The Carleton Athletics Fitness Centre, Recreational Leagues and Intramurals are closed to all members of the public for a minimum of 28 days. All memberships will be suspended immediately and a pro-rated credit for the remainder of the month will be placed on your accounts. The safety of the Carleton community, including our customers and their families, continues to be our top priority. Our fitness centre will reopen when it is appropriate to do so.

International students! If you will continue winter term classes from outside Canada for Winter 2021, you can opt out of the winter UHIP fee by filling in THIS FORM. If, however, you find you are eligible to travel to Canada at any point, you must notify the ISSO and UHIP Administrator (uhip@cunet.carleton.ca) so you can be re-enrolled in UHIP.

The International Exchange Program allows Carleton students to attend a partner university abroad while paying Carleton tuition and earning credit toward their Carleton degree. There are still several exchange information sessions that you can attend. While the ISSO will be accepting applications for the 2021/2022 exchange program, a final decision on the status of the Fall 2021 exchange will not be made until June 2021. ITS is happy to introduce a new Chat feature that allows customers to interact with Service Desk agents in real time.  All staff, faculty and students can sign onto the Customer Portal and click on the Chat icon in the lower right corner to start a conversation. Each interaction is transcribed into a Jira ticket that users can reference in the Customer Portal at a later time. Carleton is taking extra measures to ensure the safety of staff and students in many ways, including the recommendation of best practices for students, faculty and staff regarding access to campus, social gatherings and other scenarios. Since September, Banu Örmeci and her team have added to these efforts by taking a preventative stance by testing the campus’ wastewater for genetic traces of SARS-CoV-2.

Exactly 75 years later, on October 9, 2020 at 10 a.m., Carleton’s journalism program marked that date in a way those original students could never have imagined—by streaming a virtual event on the school’s Instagram site amid a global pandemic.
