Anyone coming on campus, including students, must complete the COVID-19 screening self-assessment every day through cuScreen. Please note that you will also need to use a QR code when you enter buildings. Please visit the COVID-19 website for more information on Carleton’s return to campus plans.

The FGPA office is offering in-person services. The front desk will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. To find out when other departments are open on campus, click here.

Students will be moving into residence during the week of Sept. 1 – 5 (inclusive). This may cause additional congestion at the Bronson entrance and near the residences. Parking Lot 6 will be off-limits for parking until Sept. 6. Parking around the residences will be temporarily closed until Sept. 5. OC Transpo buses will be rerouted from Campus Avenue to University Drive that week.

You can get vaccinated at Carleton’s on-campus COVID-19 vaccine clinics. Appointments are available for all students, employees and approved contractors on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until Thursday, October 7, 2021.

The final deadline to register for fall and winter terms is Sept. 22.

Many courses will be offered on campus this fall but online options are also available. You can find out more about fall and winter courses by clicking here on the University FAQs.

The fall/winter 2021-22 class schedule and registration course planning tool is available in Carleton Central and includes which courses will be available for in-person and online learning. Please note, you cannot register unless you have cleared all conditions on your offer. Your time ticket will be updated in your Carleton Central account, after the removal of your conditions is complete.

Based on student demand, we will be revising the course schedule to offer more online options for courses in the winter 2022 term. More information on these courses will be provided by the end of October.

The Graduate Students’ Association offers medical, dental and accident insurance designed to be relatively comprehensive and low in cost. All full-time students registered in the fall term, including international students, are automatically covered by the plan for the entire September 1 to August 31 plan year. You can opt out but need to do so by October 5. Part-time and co-op students and students wanting couples or family coverage (including same-sex and common-law couples) may opt in by paying the fee by Oct. 5.

Full-time grad students can now pick up or renew their U-Pass for the Fall 2021 – Winter 2022 pass period. U-Passes for this pass period are valid for use on OC-Transpo and STO services September 1 – April 30. Students who are eligible to opt-out of the U-Pass program can submit a request through Carleton Central, and should not pick up or renew their card. Unsure of how to opt out? Follow the instructions found here: U-Pass Opt-Out Process. If you already picked up or renewed your U-Pass for the Fall/21 – Winter/22 pass period, you have until September 14 to return your card and opt out of the service for a full-fee adjustment. If you have not renewed your U-Pass, then you have until December 31 to submit an opt-out application to have your request considered.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Carleton temporarily suspended the need for a doctor’s note or medical certificate for academic accommodation requests related to COVID-19. This process will be extended for the fall term (2021) since it continues to be more difficult than usual to see a doctor and obtain documentation. Students will be advised to complete the self-declaration form available on the Registrar’s Office website to request academic accommodation for missed course work including exams and assignments and connect directly with their instructors to discuss required accommodations arising from the COVID-19 situation.

Carleton has released its updated Energy Master Plan 2021-26. The plan builds upon the university’s previous energy master plans and the successful results of the initiatives already implemented. Carleton faculty received approximately $1.5 million from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Development Grants to fund inquiry into topics ranging from pandemic misinformation and reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions to youth mental health and Sixties Scoop. A total of 24 Carleton researchers will benefit from the grants, which were announced this week.

September 6: Statutory holiday. University closed.

September 8: Fall term begins and fall and fall/winter classes begin.

September 17-19: Full and late summer deferred final examinations held.

September 22:

• Last day of registration for fall term and fall/winter courses.
• Last day to change courses or sections (including auditing) for fall term and fall/winter courses.
• Graduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will not be eligible to graduate in fall 2021 and must register for the fall 2021 term.

September 30: Last day to withdraw from fall term and fall/winter courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal). Withdrawals after this date will create no financial change to fall term fees and will result in a permanent notation of WDN appearing on your official transcript.
