This year, for the Christmas and New Year holiday season, Carleton University will be closed from Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020 inclusive and will re-open on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020.
The holiday season is a time when employees may wish to take vacation to extend the above-noted closing period of the university. Please note that should employees wish to schedule vacation, this time must be reported on the monthly leave sheets.
Holiday Building Closures
During the holiday closure period, all campus buildings will be locked. Authorized faculty/staff/students may gain access using their Campus Card at card readers. Faculty/staff/students requiring access to campus buildings are required to speak with their faculty administration to arrange access to buildings before shutdown occurs. Campus Safety Services (CSS) will provide access to buildings on an “emergency” basis only. The CSS Communication Centre can be reached at 613-520-4444 in emergencies, and 613-520-3612 for general enquiries.

Recreation and Athletics
The Athletics facilities will be closed Dec. 25, 26, and 31, 2019 and Jan. 1, 2020. The Ice House will be closed on Dec. 25, 2019 and Jan. 1, 2020.

Ice House will resume its regular hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2020.
The following five residence buildings will remain open for the holiday period: Leeds, Prescott, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, and Glengarry. Only those residents who have registered, received permission and paid to remain will have access to their rooms. Access for all other students will be deactivated as of noon on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019 until noon on Sunday Jan. 5, 2020. No student will be permitted to remain or enter a closed building.
The last meal served in The Caf will be breakfast until 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019. During the closed period, no dining service outlets will be open. Leeds, Prescott and Frontenac are suite-style residences with a meal preparation area in each suite. Dining Services will be providing a “Holiday Pantry” program in 124 Leeds House for students registered to stay. The first meal served in The Caf for the winter term is dinner on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.
All dining services on campus will be closed during the holiday closure.
