The Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) team worked overnight to assess and clean up the flooded areas in the tunnels.
All sections of the tunnels are now open.
Facilities Management and Planning and Campus Safety Services want to thank you for your patience as we addressed this situation.
Update #1: 3 p.m.
There are several areas in the Carleton tunnel system and on campus that continue to be flooded.
Campus Safety and Facilities Management and Planning continue to monitor and respond to the situation, and advise to avoid wading through the water. If you encounter barricades in the tunnels, please respect them and do not cross – they are there for your safety.
As well, there are some areas on and around campus where roads may be flooded. Please exercise caution when travelling and have a safe drive home.
An update will be provided tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 11.
1 p.m.
Due to the heavy rain storm, there are several areas in the Carleton tunnel system that are flooded.
Currently, the sections of tunnel system between the Nicol Building and Nideyinàn, as well as from Athletics and Nesbitt, are closed.
Campus Safety Services and Facilities Management and Planning are aware of the situation and advise to avoid wading through the water. If you encounter water in the tunnels, please get above ground and avoid using the tunnels at this time.
As well, there are some areas on campus where water is pooling. Please exercise caution if you encounter flooded areas.
