GSA Welcome Weeks

The Graduate Students Association is hosting two weeks of fun activities for new and returning graduate students at Carleton from September 3  to 18. For a preview of events, visit gsacarleton.ca/welcomeweeks/ and stay updated by signing up for the Grad Bulletin at gsacarleton.ca.


GSA Health Plan

The GSA offers a medical, dental and accident insurance plan designed to be relatively comprehensive and low in cost. All full-time students registered in the fall term are automatically covered. Part-time students and dependents can join the plan for a fee. Deadlines apply.

Important Dates and Deadlines

ACADEMIC DEADLINES

September 1: Last day for receipt of applications from potential fall (November) graduates.

September 3-4: Residence move-in weekend.

September 3: cuLearn Update

September 5: Statutory holiday. University closed..

September 7: Fall term begins.

September 14: Deadline to apply for an opt-out for students who have not picked up their U-Pass. If you have already picked up your U-Pass, you may still submit the opt-out application and you will receive a pro-rated fee adjustment.

September 20: Last day of registration for fall term and fall/winter term courses.

September 20: Graduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will not be eligible to graduate in Fall 2016 and must register for the fall 2016 term.

October 7: Deadline to opt out of the GSA’s Health Plan.

EVENTS/OTHER

September 3 to 18: GSA Welcome Weeks

September 2: Orientation for new International Graduate Students

September 6: Orientation for all new Graduate Students and TAs

September 8: Meet other grad students and service organization representatives at GSA’s Grad Fair from noon until 4 p.m. between the University Centre, Architecture and Canal Buildings. Rain date is Thursday, Sept. 15. Free bike tune-ups and a vegan lunch provided by the Garden Spot (small donations are encouraged).

TRAINING & CAREER WORKSHOPS

Some Grad Navigate workshops are now available for the fall term. FGPA will continue to add new workshops over the next month.

TAs, check out the EDC’s Training Day on Sept. 17, as well as the Preparing to Teach Certificate program.
