Literature Review & Citation Management

October 17, 2017 at 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Location:252 MacOdrum Library
Audience:Current Students

Conducting a literature review involves critically reading and writing about prior scholarly work pertinent to a research project. As such it is a key part of the research process and therefore important for students to understand. Save time and frustration by getting it right from the start.

This workshop offers a framework for approaching literature reviews, strategies for reviewing literature, as well as organizational strategies, and helps participants to identify key rhetoric moves for their own writing. The workshop will include short presentations, practical exercises, and a hands on component.

You will learn: how to get started, strategies for finding literature, managing your review with citation management tools (Zotero and Medeley), and tips on the writing process.

Participants are encouraged to bring their personal computers.

Register on the Thesis Jumpstart website.

All graduate students are welcome. If you are a TA, this session counts toward voluntary paid training hours, provided that you are working as a TA in the term when the training takes place.
