Coming in Fall 2017 . . .

Grad school can go by in a flash, so take the time to document and reflect upon your experiences and accomplishments. Starting in Fall 2017, every Carleton University student will be granted access to CUPortfolio, a fully featured electronic portfolio system with social networking features. With CUPortfolio you can:

  • maintain a gallery of learning “artifacts,” including notes, videos, articles and more
  • network with other graduate students
  • create and update your resume
  • post blog entries
  • fill out the CUIDP (Carleton University Individual Development Plan) template in order to shape your professional development strategy
  • share your portfolio with peers, professors and potential employers (but only share what you want to share)

How to get started with CUPortfolio

Step 1: Go to cuportfolio.carleton.ca and log in using your MyCarletonOne login information.

Step 2: Explore your Dashboard, and be sure to consult the cuPortfolio Support website. Find and join the “Graduate Professional Development (FGPA)” group, in which you can view shared pages and collections from your peers and copy the CUIDP (Carleton University Individual Development Plan) template.

The CUIDP (Carleton University Individual Development Plan) for graduate students

There is no shortage of well-qualified people in the job market today. Competition is fierce, but you can boost your chances of securing a great job by creating a professional development strategy while you are still in graduate school. One way to do this is by completing an Individual Development Plan.

The Carleton IDP is available as a template for CUPortfolio. Once you complete the CUIDP, you can share it with peers and professors or keep it private. Update it every year, and your career narrative will take shape.

How to get the CUIDP

Step 1: Go to cuportfolio.carleton.ca and log in using your MyCarletonOne login information.

Step 2: Find and join the “Graduate Professional Development (FGPA)” group, and when accepted you will be able to access and copy the CUIDP template. A link to a printable version of the CUIDP will be available here (link address will change occasionally).
