Important Dates & Deadlines


Sign up now  for a first-year seminar (FYSM) course (five 3-hour meetings Jan. 23-Feb. 6)

Dec. 10 Media Training Workshop – you must register in advance.

Jan. 23  Deadline for upper year PhD students to register for  EDC’s Preparing to Teach certificate.

All of our professional development training opportunities on the Grad Navigate website are now finished for the fall term. We will start adding new workshops for the winter term in the near future.

In the meantime, you may want to access online training through Please note that these training modules do not count towards paid training hours for TAs.



Building and facility closures/reduced hours during the holiday season

Dec. 8 Last day of fall term classes

Dec. 8  Last day for academic withdrawal from fall term courses

Dec. 8 Last day to pay any remaining fall tuition fees to avoid a hold on access to marks through Carleton Central and the release of transcripts and other official documents

Dec. 8 Deadline to submit online teaching evaluations

Dec. 9 No classes or exams take place

Dec. 10-21  Final exams in fall term courses and mid-term exams in fall/winter courses may be held. Exams are normally held all seven days of the week.

Dec. 25-Jan. 2 University closed for the holidays.

Jan. 1  Deadline to apply for an “Outside Priority” TAship for Winter, 2015

Jan. 4  New international grad student orientation

Jan. 9  Winter orientation for all new Graduate Students and TAs

Jan. 16 Students who have not deposited (via automated upload) the FINAL copy of their thesis to the office of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs by this date must register and will not be eligible to graduate this winter (Feb.).

Jan. 16   Last day for registration for winter term courses.

Jan. 5 Deadline to submit papers for Flux and Flow conference (hosted by the  Art History Grad Students’ Society)

Jan. 16 Deadline for submissions to the 21st annual Underhill Graduate Student Colloquium.

Feb. 28  Deadline to submit articles to Render – the CU Grad Journal of Art & Culture
