Final Thesis Submission Date

Sept. 17 is the deadline for students to deposit (via automated upload) the final copy of their thesis to the office of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. If you do not meet this deadline, you must register for the fall term.

Important Dates & Deadlines


New fall professional development training opportunities are now available on our Grad Navigate website. New workshops are being added on a regular basis. Click on the following five bullets for current training opportunities. TAs can count these sessions towards their training hours.


Sept. 4 – Fall and fall/winter classes begin.

Sept. 17 – Last day of registration for fall term and fall/winter courses. Last day to change courses or sections (including auditing) for fall/winter and fall term courses. Students who have not deposited (via automated upload) the final copy of their thesis to the office of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs must register.

Sept. 26-28 – Summer deferred final examinations to be held.

Sept. 30 – Last day to withdraw from Fall term and Fall/Winter courses with a full fee adjustment. Withdrawals after this date will create no financial change to Fall term fees (financial withdrawal).

Oct. 17 – Deadline  to hand in applications to depts. for the 2015-16 SSHRC PhD awards (Application form not yet available)

Nov. 15 – Deadline to apply for a Fulbright award

Dec. 1 Deadline to complete the application for a Tri-Council (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR) 2015-16 Master’s award (Application form not yet available)

Dec. 1 – Deadline  to hand in applications to depts. for a 2015-16 Ontario Graduate Scholarship

Dec. 3 Deadline to apply for a Gates Cambridge award

Sept. 10  Info session for current PhD students for the Collaborative PhD with a specialization in Political Economy

Sept. 12  Deadline for RAs and TAs, who have never been paid by Carleton, to set up an account with Payroll Service (to ensure payment by Sept. 29)

Sept. 30 Deadline to apply for the Collaborative Master’s in African Studies

 Oct. 3 – Deadline to opt out of the GSA’s Health, Dental and Accident Plan

Oct. 31  Deadline to apply for the Collaborative PhD in Political Economy
