Important Dates and Deadlines


You won’t want to miss these four Mitacs workshops:

Oct. 14Essentials of Productive Teams

Nov. 11Career Professionalism

Check out all the new professional development workshops in Grad Navigate. TAs – it can take up to two weeks before your attendance is recorded and you are credited with your paid training hours. This is because this process is manual and time-consuming.  You are strongly encouraged to track your progress independently of the TA Management System in order to ensure its accuracy. In the event of a discrepancy, you are responsible for ensuring your training is captured in Carleton Central.

You can also access online training through Please note that these online training modules do not count towards paid training hours for TAs.



Oct. 9 – December examination schedule (fall term final and fall/winter mid-terms) available online.

Oct. 12 – Statutory holiday (Thanksgiving). University closed.

Oct. 26-30 – Fall break. Classes are suspended.

Nov. 6 – Last day to submit Formal Examination Accommodation Forms to the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities for December examinations.

Nov. 11– Remembrance Day

Nov. 25 Winter Payment Deadline. Late charges may be applied to the student account any time after this date.

Nov. 30 “Pedagogical” training hours must be submitted by this date for a fall-only TAship

Dec. 1 Last day for receipt of applications from potential winter (February) graduates.

Dec. 1 Last day to submit the final draft of your Master’s or PhD thesis to your supervisor

Dec. 7 – Last day of fall-term classes. Last day for academic withdrawal from fall term courses. Last day to pay any remaining fall tuition fees to avoid a hold on access to marks through Carleton Central and the release of transcripts and other official documents.

Dec. 8 – No classes or examinations take place.

Dec. 9 – 21 – Final examinations in fall term courses and mid-term examinations in fall/winter courses may be held. Examinations are normally held all seven days of the week.

Dec. 15 – Fall Co-op Work Term Reports due.

Dec. 24 to Jan. 3, 2016 – University closed

Dec. 31 Deadline for TAs to apply for a “leave from duties” for the winter term

Jan. 1 – Deadline to apply to be an “out-of-priority” TA for winter 2016

The deadlines to apply for a Leave From Duties are: Aug. 31 (fall term), Dec. 31 (winter term) and April 30 (summer term).  (access form via Carleton Central)

“Pedagogical” training hours must be submitted by Nov. 30 for a fall-only TAship, and March 30 for a full academic year TAship or a winter-only TAship.

Deadline to apply to be an “out-of-priority” TA for the fall term is Sept. 1; for the winter term, 2016 is Jan. 1, 2016.
