Congratulations to all students who will be graduating in June. To celebrate your academic success, the University is hosting a number of virtual graduation celebrations from June 21 to 25, 2021, along with many faculty and departmental events to honour the important achievements of our graduates. As stated in the President’s March 29 update to the community, we are planning for a safe and gradual return to campus in fall 2021. A significant proportion of courses – in particular seminars, labs, experiential learning and smaller classes – are expected to be offered on campus in a safe way, but online options will also be available to provide flexibility. The Fall/Winter 2021-22 class schedule and registration course planning tool is now available in Carleton Central and includes which courses will be available for in-person and online learning.

Health and Counselling Services is offering a new, unique opportunity in group counselling sessions along with peer-to-peer social engagement and resource navigation. This group is for students who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ or who are questioning their gender and sexuality. The first session will begin on Wednesday, June 23. The Kitigànensag Graduate Students’ Association Community Garden is excited to announce the opening of garden plot applications for Summer 2021. Applications are due at noon on Monday, June 28. You can fill out an application using this google form.

We invite all Carleton students to attend a Digital Strategy consultation and share their thoughts related to digital technology at Carleton. Students who attend a consultation will be given $10 on their campus card as a thank you for participating. Consultations will take place virtually on Zoom on Wednesday, June 23 from noon – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. At the consultations, we will ask questions such as:

1. What is working well related to digital technology at Carleton?
2. How could Carleton use digital technology to improve your student experience?
3. If you could solve one problem at Carleton related to digital technology, what would it be?
4. How else can we use digital technology to strengthen Carleton?
5. What have we learned at Carleton during the pandemic connected to digital technology?

Input provided will help shape the future of digital technology at Carleton.

A reminder that, over the summer, FGPA is continuing to offer one-on-one writing consultations to assist you with writing-related challenges, or to discuss the effectiveness of your research and writing strategies. To request a consultation, please fill out and submit this web form.

Teaching and Learning Services will again offer Preparing to Teach for Carleton’s upper-year doctoral students starting this Fall 2021 (Wednesday afternoons, September 22 – Dec. 1). For Fall 2021, everything will take place online. Registration for the program will open on July 26. More details can be found here.

June 18 is the last day of early summer classes. (NOTE: full summer classes resume July 2.) Classes follow a Monday schedule on this day. It’s also the last day for academic withdrawal from early summer courses.

June 21-27: Early summer final examinations and mid-term examinations in full summer courses may be held.  Examinations are normally held all seven days of the week.

June 22: Final summer term payment deadline. Any balance owing on your student account will prevent access to registration for future terms. Holds will be placed on unpaid summer accounts, which will prevent access to marks and/or registration for the 2021-22 Fall/Winter course selection. Payment of fees is due by the posted deadlines.

July 1: Statutory holiday. University closed.

July 2: Late summer courses begin. Full summer courses resume.
