Update on Transcripts for Awards Applications

Tri-agency Awards (NSERC/SSHRC/CIHR)
Canada’s three granting agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)—acknowledge that the widespread disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic may hinder the ability of some institutions to provide applicants with official and up-to-date transcripts in advance of the deadline date, particularly at institutions which do not currently provide official electronic versions of these documents. Therefore, for the Fall 2022 scholarships and fellowships competitions, the agencies will continue to accept unofficial transcripts if official transcripts cannot be obtained. Submission of an application will continue to serve as a formal attestation that the applicant has provided true, complete, and accurate information in the application and its related documents. Students are expected to make every effort to provide official where possible. Tri-agencies may request official hard copies at a later date and students may be required to submit official hard copies to Graduate Studies if they are successful recipients of an award. Students will be contacted at a later date if needed.

OGS
Similar to tri-agency awards, we acknowledge that the pandemic may hinder students ability to access official and up-to-date transcripts. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for Fall 2022. Submission of an application will continue to serve as a formal attestation that the applicant has provided true, complete, and accurate information in the application and its related documents. Students may be required to provide official transcripts if they are a recipient of an award.

Last Day to Withdraw - November 15

Although the deadline has passed for receiving a financial adjustment when you withdraw from a course, you might decide to drop a course to avoid a failure or a poor grade showing up on your student record and affecting your CGPA. This is referred to as Academic Withdrawal.

Academic Withdrawals will create no financial change to fall term fees and will result in a grade of Withdrawn (WDN) appearing on your official transcript. WDN is a permanent notation that appears on your official transcript signifying no academic credit and will not impact your CGPA.

Please note that Nov. 15, 2022 is the last day to withdraw, with no academic penalty, from full fall and late fall courses.

After these dates, you will no longer be able to drop courses in good academic standing. The Academic Withdrawal deadline to drop a full session (fall/winter) course is March 15, 2023. After this date, you will no longer be able to drop full session courses in good academic standing.
