Reminder to Register for the Fall Term

If you haven’t already done so, you need to register for the fall term as soon as possible. If you have conditions on your admission, this will prevent you from registering. If this is the case, we recommend that you provide the necessary documentation right away, so that you can register.

Orientation for New International Students

In addition to the Sept. 3rd general Orientation, international graduate students also need to register for one of several International student Orientation sessions that are being held until Sept. 30.

GSA's Graduate Weeks of Welcome

The Graduate Students’ Association is proud to present Welcome Weeks, more than two weeks of events for students. This includes academic events, workshops, lots of free food, and many opportunities to get involved. GSA's Health, Dental and Accident Plan

The Graduate Students’ Association offers a medical, dental and accident insurance plan designed to be relatively comprehensive and low in cost. All full-time students registered in the fall term are automatically covered. Part-time students and dependents can join the plan for a fee. Please check the GSA’s website for deadlines, and more information. Feel free to visit the GSA office in the University Centre (Rm. 600) to get more information from GSA staff members.

Important Information for New TAs

Visit our TA web page for important information for new and continuing TAs, including how to update your profile. Updates are important as this information helps determine appropriate TA assignments. As per the Collective Agreement Section 13.04 (f), TA assignment offers shall be accepted or declined within 10 working days of the date of your offer. Failure to accept your offer by this deadline without reasonable cause will constitute declining of your TAship for that term.

Important Academic Dates and Deadlines

September 1:  Last day for receipt of applications to graduate from potential fall (November) graduates.

September 2:  Statutory holiday. University closed.

September 3:  Orientation for new graduate students and teaching assistants.

September 4:  Fall term begins. Fall and fall/winter classes begin.

September 12:  OSAP deferral deadline. Late payment charges and late registration charges applied to the student account on or after this date for eligible OSAP students.

September 13-15:  Full and late summer deferred final examinations held.

September 17:  Last day of registration for fall term and fall/winter courses. Last day to change courses or sections (including auditing) for fall term and fall/winter courses.

September 17:  Graduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will not be eligible to graduate in fall 2019 and must register for the fall 2019 term.

September 30:  Last day to withdraw from fall term and fall/winter courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal). Withdrawals after this date will create no financial change to fall term fees and will result in a permanent notation of WDN appearing on your official transcript.
