Dr. Onita Basu is a Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Basu’s research in the field of water and wastewater treatment spans from centralized (turn on the tap) services to point-of-use decentralized options. Embedded in this research is a complex mix of technical, social and sustainability lenses, as well as experimental design, pilot scale and full scale research.
As Associate Vice-Provost (Graduate Studies), Dr. Basu focuses on graduate awards and professional development. She oversees all major external awards (tri-council) and cross-faculty donor awards. Additionally, Dr. Basu assists in managing professional development for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows including events such as Carleton’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
