people with tablet and papersThis is an exciting time for the accounting profession as Canada’s accounting professionals are coming together as one strong, single profession under the banner of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Carleton’s Sprott School of Business is leading the way with a new Master of Accounting (MAcc), a rigorous program that will provide a gateway to a career as a professional accountant. Students graduating from the MAcc will be exempt from the CPA Canada Professional Education Program (PEP).

“We are very excited about this new program that will allow our students to proceed directly from the MAcc to the CPA Canada Common Final exam – the final step in becoming a chartered professional accountant,” says Jerry Tomberlin, dean of the Sprott School.

Delivered over 16 months, including two summers of full-time study plus a 4-month internship placement, the MAcc will use an interesting blend of videos and classroom time to explore theoretical components and apply theoretical knowledge to real life case scenarios.

The Sprott School is accredited by AACSB Insternational – AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five per cent of the world’s business programs.
