Melissa Armstrong throwing a baseballPitcher Melissa Armstrong, a PhD History student at Carleton University, helped Canada win the silver medal at the World Baseball Confederation’s World Cup in Gijang City, Korea.

Armstrong pitched 5.2 innings in three games, posted a 2.47 ERA and had a 1-0 record.

Last year, Armstrong was a pitcher during the Pan Am Games – the team won silver.

Armstrong was part of Carleton’s CU75 campaign in 2015.

She also won a Vanier award in 2014 – one of the most prestigious awards given to PhD students.
