Update #3: Saturday, July 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Power has been restored to all buildings on campus, and normal operations may resume. 

Please note that the power outage has impacted the capacity of the cooling systems in some buildings. The Facilities Management and Planning team are working on the restoration of these systems.

Update #2: Friday, July 12 at 12:45 p.m.

At this time, the duration of the outage is unknown. Impacted buildings are currently running on emergency power. Facilities Management staff are working with Ottawa Hydro to resume full services as soon as possible.

To ensure the continued safety and well-being of everyone on campus, the following buildings remain without power and are closed, effective immediately:

  • Architecture
  • Dunton Tower
  • Azrieli Pavilion
  • Azrieli Theatre
  • MacOdrum Library
  • Southam Hall
  • Paterson Hall
  • Tory Building
  • Nideyinàn

In order to protect the remaining electrical supply across campus, Facilities Management and Planning has had to reduce cooling to several buildings. This list below is subject to change. Currently the following have had cooling capacity levels reduced:

  • Loeb
  • SSRB
  • HCI/VSIM
  • ARISE
  • Richcraft
  • Pigiarvik
  • Nesbitt
  • Nicol
  • Canal
  • Mackenzie
  • Minto
  • Renfrew House
  • Lanark House
  • Glengarry House

Update #1: Friday, July 12 at 7:50 a.m.

Due to a significant power outage overnight, there is currently no power or cooling in several buildings on campus including:

  • Architecture
  • Dunton Tower
  • Azrieli Pavilion
  • Azrieli Theatre
  • MacOdrum Library
  • Southam Hall
  • Patterson Hall
  • Tory Building
  • Nideyinàn
  • Loeb

Facilities Management and Planning is working with Hydro Ottawa to restore power. It is not known at this time when power will be restored.  Should people need to enter to retrieve items, they will be able to do so. Note that elevators may not be operational.

The following students support offices are closed for in-person support services (including ours at Graduate Studies) but are operating remotely.

Several buildings had their power restored overnight and are operating normally.
