Student Progress Report – Doctoral Programs

As described in section 11.5 Doctoral Progress Reporting of the Graduate Calendar, doctoral students must make consistent progress in their studies and must document their progress by completing an annual progress report that details the previous year’s achievements and the objectives for the following year. Students must complete their progress report in consultation with their supervisor(s), with potential input from their thesis advisory committee.

Parts 1-5 of the below form should be completed by the student. At the bottom, a ‘Save & Continue’ button is provided to allow the student to start and continue their progress via a direct link. Please note: a copy of the form will not be accessible without the link, so please save your work early and often. Once parts 1-5 are completed by the student, they should copy the link and share it with their supervisor(s). The supervisor(s) will then complete part 6 and submit the finalized form.

Part 2: Progression towards Candidacy

A Ph.D. student who has completed all of their program milestones except the Ph.D. thesis shall be given the status of Ph.D. Candidate. It is expected that full-time Ph.D. students will advance to candidacy by the end of their third year (ninth term) of study. Failure to achieve candidacy by the end of the third year of study may result in loss of status and removal from the program. Part-time Ph.D. students must achieve candidacy by the end of their fifth year (15th term) of study.

A copy of the submission will be shared with all members listed in part 1, including the student. A copy will also be shared directly with Grad Studies to be added to the student’s file.
