Since 2010, the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of  the Vice-President (Research and International) have co-sponsored the Faculty Graduate Mentoring Awards. The FGMAs honour professors who have gone above and beyond to assist their students. This kind of support has been even more appreciated during the pandemic.

Over the years, we have heard about a professor who responded within minutes to a student’s email – sent at 2:00 in the morning. We have heard about new initiatives taken by professors to help their grad students – a couple of this year’s winners have done just that. We have heard about professors who have assisted students, even though the students were not in their class. And we have heard about professors who have helped their students solve difficult personal problems, which have been particularly prevalent during this time of COVID. And so much more.

On March 17, seven professors were presented (virtually) with a Mentoring Award.
